We offer a range of relaxed informative tuition, recognised angling qualifications, immersive excursion itineraries and memorable fly fishing adventures.

How it all started...

Richard & Phillipa Winser live on the shore of Grafham Water in Cambridgeshire and have extensive experience fly fishing in the UK and overseas including South Africa, France, Alaska and Slovenia. Both are voluntary game angling guides for disabled, special needs and terminally ill children. They instruct and assess for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, are fully insured, qualified as Ambulance Service level 3 Community First Responder [first aid] and hold enhanced Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) Certificates.

Whatever your experience, you can expect them to impart a wealth of practical advice and make it a whole lot of fun.

The Academy

The Fly Fishing Academy was formed in 2018 and delivers a range of courses to teach beginners and fly fishing newcomers, which includes: The Angling Trust CAST Skills Award levels 1-6 and their popular Angling Skills Activity Award, which comprises of six remote tutorials and a qualification assessment.

Our Packages



Angling Skills Activity Award

Devised during the 2020 Corona Virus Lockdown, this package is delivered by six (30 minute) remote online tutorials.



Blast & '3 Fly' Cast

Our popular and social combined days consist of a 50 ‘bird’ English Sporting Clay Pigeon Shoot at a commercial shooting ground followed by three hours fly fishing.

Excursion Days

We arrange a small number of Excursion Days at our tuition water for our students and past students each season. A wonderful session to gain experience.

Our Sundowner excursion evenings combine three hours late afternoon, dry fly (only) fishing and are ‘capped off’ with drinks served at the waterside.
