"Jesus had twelve disciples, four of them were fishermen" (The Bible) – Richard Winser

We offer a range of relaxed informative tuition, recognised angling qualifications, immersive excursion itineraries and memorable fly fishing adventures.

Here is a bit about us and what we do…

Richard & Phillipa Winser live on the shore of Grafham Water in Cambridgeshire and have extensive experience fly fishing in the UK and overseas including South Africa, France, Alaska and Slovenia.

Both are voluntary game angling guides for disabled, special needs and terminally ill children; in 2023 they received The [Kings] Coronation Champions Award, a nationally prestigious (Royal) award for these endeavours. They also instruct and assess for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, have professional indemnity and public liability insurance, are qualified as Ambulance Service level 3 Community First Responders [first aid] and hold enhanced Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) Certificates.

They are both qualified licenced Angling Trust (Sport England L2CCA) Game Angling Coaches, and work within a variety of schools, pupil referral units and alternative educational settings. Richard additionally has a diploma in Entomology.

They formed the Fly Fishing Academy in 2018 and teach at all levels. Most notoriously, they deliver a range of courses to teach beginners and fly fishing newcomers, which includes: The Angling Trust qualifications, contextualised education packages and their popular Angling Skills Activity Award.

With exclusive access to a private tuition water and several local commercial trout stillwaters, they are ideally located to guide and instruct within the Eastern region but equally familiar and at home in Hampshire, Somerset and North Yorkshire for those willing to travel a bit further…?

They host a number of ‘Excursion Days’ each season, to assist new anglers and their individual transition to being fully independent, the popular ‘Blast & 3 Fly Cast’ days and also their infamous ‘Sundowner’ (dry fly only) evenings, which are refreshingly unique!

Whatever your experience, they will impart a wealth of practical advice and make it a whole lot of fun.

Together they have the imagination, knowledge, skill and experience to tailor a unique and bespoke package around your particular needs and help you catch your first trout or realise your personal fly fishing goals.

Accommodation, tackle, equipment, flies and lunch time catering can all be included if required.

Your fly fishing journey starts here, only you confine where it might possibly end…?

Please contact them via; kingfisher.10@btinternet.com to discuss your requirements and make further arrangements.
